the films we almost saw last summer or (maybe we should turn off the lights)

Gathering to watch a film—choosing a title, adjusting the sound and image, finding the perfect chair, picking up the camera. The moments leading up to watching a film fade away as soon as the lights dim. Yet, I want to remember those fleeting instances before the film begins.

Sometimes, we prepare for films that never get watched; other times, it’s not the film itself but everything leading up to it that becomes memorable. Now, we can turn off the lights.
