An elegy to the quiet, colorless, and mechanical rhythm of life.

In our new screening program, we feature one of the rare gems of 2000s cinema: Whisky.

Whisky, which became a cult film following the tragic suicide of its co-director Juan Pablo Rebella and remains one of the most acclaimed works of Uruguayan cinema on the international stage, will be screened on Sunday, August 3rd at Kadıköy Cinema!

The story begins when Jacobo, a reclusive man running a small sock factory, is forced to face his brother Herman, who returns after many years following their mother’s death. Jacobo asks his coworker Marta to accompany him, setting in motion a quiet portrait of human fragility, woven with silence, routine, and suppressed emotions. The film captures the faint glimmer of feeling that cracks through the heavy silence of habit, as muted desires, shy glances, and unspoken words surface once the curtain of monotony is drawn back.
