One of the legendary directors of cinema history, Abbas Kiarostami’s masterpiece Close-Up, on the big screen with an Othon presentation!

Inspired by a true story, the film centers on the tale of Hossein Sabzian, who introduces himself to a humble, art-loving family as the famous Iranian director Mohsen Makhmalbaf. Living in poverty and loneliness, with Cinema as his only refuge, Sabzian’s assumed identity earns the family’s trust; but when the lie is soon revealed, it leads him to the courtroom.

To reenact the events, Kiarostami places Sabzian and the family in front of the camera during the actual trial process. The fact that the real people play themselves elevates the film to a unique place in cinema history. At its core, Close-Upunfolds as a poetic inquiry into the passion for cinema, the fragile line between illusion and reality, and the power of representation.
