A cinematic diary of a poet’s attempt to find a new world for himself through disappearances: Jonas Mekas’s “Lost, Lost, Lost”, in cinemas with an Othon presentation!
After a long, cold journey stretching from Lithuania to America, Mekas uses his camera like a compass: searching both for himself and for the place he will come to belong to. This film is not only the testimony of an exile; it is one of cinema’s most intimate traces of remembering, holding on, and putting down roots anew.
In Lost, Lost, Lost, there is a murmur of a soul that continually reconstructs the meaning of “home.” By connecting images drawn from his diaries, Mekas creates not the archive of a community, but of a feeling: the archive of being lost.
This is neither a documentary nor a memoir film. Rather, it is the filmed words of a poet trying to piece together the broken fragments of life. He whispers to us that, as we remember, we rebuild ourselves.
