One Sings the Other Doesn’t Screening

The intertwined paths of two women, their friendship, and their search for freedom: one of Agnès Varda’s most special films, One Sings, the Other Doesn’t, comes to Othon Cinema with a special one-night screening for International Women’s Day at Atlas Sineması!
On one side is Pomme, who sings and resists life with joy; on the other is Suzanne, carrying the weight of motherhood and survival. As the film follows the bond between these two women through letters, encounters, and separations, it reveals what it meant to be a woman in France during the 1960s and 70s.
Agnès Varda explores themes such as bodily autonomy and female solidarity without didacticism—through music, color, and her uniquely intimate sensibility. One Sings, the Other Doesn’t is not only a manifesto of feminist cinema, but also a story of friendship and hope flowing through time.
This screening is presented within the framework of the Francophone Film Festival, with the support of the Institut Français de Turquie.
