In one of his finest works, Claude Chabrol —French cinema’s great chronicler and critic of the bourgeoisie— searches for the origins of crime and violence not in individual madness, but in the cold walls of social inequality.

Winner of the Best Actress award at the Venice Film Festival, Isabelle Huppert and Sandrine Bonnaire deliver performances that unsettle with every glance and gesture, elevating the film beyond psychological suspense into the realm of a cinematic manifesto.
