Cléo from 5 to 7 Screening

“You seem to be waiting for something to happen, rather than waiting for someone.”

A woman’s journey from the fear of death back towards life: Agnès Varda’s unforgettable masterpiece Cléo from 5 to 7, presented by Othon, comes to Istanbul, Izmir, and Ankara!

As she awaits the results of a medical examination, singer Cléo wanders through the streets of Paris. As the hours pass, mirrors, hats, shop windows, songs, and unfamiliar faces begin to take on new meanings. The possibility of death has never felt so close, while the city carries on living as it always has.

Varda does not merely measure time; she makes it visible. Over the brief span between five and seven, we witness how a woman’s perception of herself, her body, her fears, and others can begin to change. The Paris through which Cléo walks gradually becomes a reflection of her inner world.

Because sometimes, two hours are all it takes for life to change.
